The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Lead: Renovation, Repair and Painting rule governing the work of professional remodelers in homes built before 1978 took effect on April 22, 2010.

The rule addresses remodeling and renovation projects for all residential and multifamily structures built prior to 1978 that disturb more than six square feet of painted surfaces inside the home or 20 square feet on the exterior of the home, due to possible  lead paint contamination.

Las Cruces, NM - Due to increased demand, the Building Industry Association of Southern NM in partnership with Santa Fe Community College has once again scheduled the "Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Painting Initial Training Course" on June 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the BIA office. Las Cruces, NM - Steve Pearce, candidate for United States Congress is slated to be the guest speaker at the Building Industry Association of Southern NM's monthly networking luncheon. The luncheon is set for Thursday, June 17, from 11:30am to 1:00pm in the association's meeting hall, located at 2825 N. Main Street. Members of the BIA pay $17 in advance or $25 at the door. Non-members pay $20 in advance or $28 at the door.
